Authentic local experience, variety of entertainment options, lovely beer garden
Loud noise from the pub and neighboring rooms can really disrupt sleep!!! It's inconvenient that some common facilities are shared and limited access can be frustrating for those with mobility issues!!!

We had a wonderful stay at the Black Lion with my family! The staff were incredibly friendly and down to earth, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Our twin room was simple but had everything we needed, including clean linens and comfortable beds. The location was perfect for exploring Scarborough, being just a short walk away from the beach and local attractions. We appreciated the shared facilities being tidy as well, which added to our overall pleasant experience.
The noise level was a bit high at times.

Crikey, Scarborough’s got some culinary gems! Check out Solange Artisan Bakery for pastries that'll make your taste buds dance. The locational joys don’t stop there—Saba Thai’s curry is a must as well. Plus, the hospitality at Black Lion is top-notch, making you feel right at home! The comfy beds are the cherry on top after a busy day.
Now, the room could use a proper spruce-up. dust bunnies had a party under the bed. And, mate, restocking tea and coffee was a no-show, so I hit up the shops. Oh, and those stairs leading up had quite the stains—sticky situations, indeed!

Lovely, welcoming atmosphere with down-to-earth staff. The twin room was basic yet comfortable, with clean shared facilities. Location was ideal—close enough to attractions without being too noisy, though being a light sleeper, I noted some noise at night. A minor inconvenience was the need for earplugs, though I have no doubt this well-managed place will improve further soon.

Had an awesome weekend with friends here! We loved the traditional pub vibe and enjoyed some great nights out. It’s close to local attractions, making it easy to explore. The room was basic but comfy enough for a short stay. The bar is a fun spot with karaoke nights.
The only downside was that the rooms felt a bit worn out, and the mattresses could be better. It didn’t ruin our stay, but it was noticeable.

Great stay with lovely hosts!
Had a fab time! The place has a cozy vibe and the hosts are super friendly. Breakfast is totally worth it—Barrie's full English is delicious! Just a heads up—the rooms could use a bit of a refresh, but it's clean and comfy. Plus, love the bar vibe. there's always fun stuff happening.

It was a commendable fit for a city holiday in Scarborough with attractive and competitive value for money. Barrie’s breakfasts are spot on, especially the full English that was well worth the extra charge. Try to ask for any special requests for breakfast a day in advance.

The single room was decent for the price. It had a comfy bed, which is always a plus, and the shared bathrooms were kept clean with fresh towels. No issues there! It's pretty basic with some decor needing a bit of a refresh, but nothing too off-putting. The vibe was nice, especially being above a pub. Just be prepared for some noise on the weekends with the live music downstairs.
